John Roshell

[ John Roshell ]

John Roshell is an American comic book letterer, born in 1970. He was the first employee of Richard Starkings' lettering studio, Comicraft. The studio provides services in design and lettering to the comic book industry. Together, they pioneered the computer techniques now widely used in the comic book industry.

Roshell co-created the Comicraft Font Library. The fonts are available for private and business uses through Active Images, the publishing branch of Comicraft. He created hundreds of typefaces currently used in many comic books such as Spider-Man, Superman and the X-Men.

Roshell is also a designer for logos and collected editions of comic books. Am,ong his credits, we can find the Astro City collections, Danger Girl: The Ultimate Collection, Spider-Man: Blue and more. He also serves as the creator of all the Active Network websites.

In 2008, Roshell was nominated for an Eisner Award for his work on the Heroes graphic novel.
