[ John Lucas ]

John Lucas is an American comic book penciller and inker. His style as a penciller has often been described as close to Russ Heath and Jack Kirby. He himself describes his work as too mainstream for the small press and not enough mainstream for the mainstream press.

Even if he has a prolific career for the big US companies like Marvel and DC, Lucas produces a lot of work for the small press as well as stories for the British magazine 2000 AD (Valkyries with Steve Moore.)

Despite an early start on Marvel's Barbie and Barbie Fashion, Lucas has been more interested by edgier works in recent years such as his participation to Vertigo's American Splendor or The Exterminators. He has also recently pencilled and inked a back-up feature arc in Detective Comics also for DC.

For Marvel, his more recent contribution includes an entire run on a spin-off series of Civil War, Civil War: Front Line and Generation M, both series written by Paul Jenkins with art by Ramon Bachs.

His recent independent work includes an inking credit on Living In Infamy, a series created by comic book writers Deric A. Hughes and Ben Raab and published by Ludovico Technique.

Lucas has also done illustration work for Upper Deck's Superhero card games, The Austin American Statesman, Revolver Magazine and for a limited edition of Joe R. Lansdale's Drive-IN 3 horror novel.

His work on Living In Infamy is featured in Adventures Into Digital Comics.
