Gerry Alanguilan

Gerry Alanguilan is an
architect by profession, but a comic book writer and
artist by practice. He has been writing and drawing
comics in the Philippines since 1992, and worked as
an inker and illustrator for US comics since 1995.
Alanguilan started his US
career by inking another artist from the
Philippines, Whilce Portacio on books like Wetworks published by Wildstorm Comics. Later, he worked on Tales of the Darkness for Top Cow,
Stone, once again inking Whilce Portacio. He also inked Iron Man when Marvel Comics hired Jim
Lee's studio for a year for the Heroes Reborn event.
Alanguilan started his
association with Leinil Francis Yu, first for Marvel Comics on Wolverine, X-Men, Fantastic Four and X-Force. Still with Leinil Francis Yu, he inked the creator-owned High Roads published through Cliffhanger. For DC Comics, and once again with Yu and writer Mark Waid, he inked the limited series Superman: Birthright. It was followed by a limited series for Wildstorm, Silent Dragon, still illustrated by Leinil Francis Yu.
Alanguilan is also very active in the Philippines, through his Komikero imprint. He created comics such as as Wasted, Johnny Balbona, Humanis Rex! and ELMER. He also contributed to anthologies like Siglo: Freedom, Siglo: Passion and Filipino Komiks.
