Deric A. Hughes is an American comic book writer. He started his career as a Writer's Assistant for the Twilight Zone UPN TV show. He met comic book writer Ben Raab in a comic book store and both enjoyed their conversations so much that they started to work on various projects together.
Their first comic book project was Living In Infamy, a series they co-created and brought to Ludovico Technique. The company, specialized in producing DVD material, was looking for a comic book to expand their line of products. The series follows characters who live in a Federal Witness Protection town for reformed super-villains.
The duo worked together again for Virgin Comics on the second volume of 7 Brothers, a series created by filmmaker John Woo.
Hughes also works for Electric Farm Entertainment on its original animated Web series, Afterworld. The show will count around 130 2-3 minute episodes. It was produced for $3 million. Some of the first episodes previously ran on YouTube and were viewed by more than 1 million people. The MySpace series will be free to view and supported by advertising.
Hughes also serves as a translator of Manga for Viz.
His work on Living In Infamy is featured in Adventures Into Digital Comics.
